Do You Take Care of the Air in Your Home?
How many HVAC units do you have in your home?
Do you have a central filter for each unit or are they broken up in multiple locations?
Are your filters 1” deep or 4” or 5”?
More times than not, the 1” filters are supposed to be changed out every 30-90 days, depending on the filter and HVAC company’s recommendation. The larger, 4”-5” filters, recommend changing them every 6-9 months. It will never hurt your HVAC system to change your filters too often.
People with allergies and/or pets tend to change them out more regularly. One of the most common HVAC service calls is the filters being clogged.
Let me put this all in perspective. Imagine wearing an N95 mask over your mouth and nose, changing to a new one everyday. May not be perfect, but it’s doable. You can breathe. Now, imagine wearing the same N95 mask day after day for many days. Your breathing becomes more restricted making it more difficult to breath, just like the filters on your HVAC unit. Yes your HVAC unit needs to breath fresh air just as much as you and me.
